The rumours are true: Jasper has a lottery winner in its midst.

Local bartender extraordinaire, Geoff Fox is $100,000 richer after purchasing a Lotto Max ticket with an Extra.

The Whistle Stop employee checked his winning ticket at Tags, while picking up a loaf of bread.

“I was just scanning through one-by-one and then I just saw a bunch of zeroes,” he said in a press release from the Western Canada Lottery Corporation.

The initial shock had him searching for another set of eyes to assure he wasn't being deceived by his own.

“I called Steve, the manger, over,” he said. “He came over and checked the tickets and told me it was true—it was a winner.”

Fox, or "Foxy", as locals know him, said he plans to use the money to pay some bills and save up for a house.

“But I'll probably take a trip, too!”
