A group of youngsters had their athleticism put to the test, April 10, when officers from the Jasper RCMP ran them through a police-grade obstacle course.
The course, similar to the one recruits run when training to be an member of the RCMP, was shrunk down for the pint-sized kids in Out of School Care and administered by the detachment’s fitness coordinator, Fraser Bjornson.
It had them jumping over “hot lava” and “electrical wires” and running around the gym.
After each of the kids had run the course twice, they were still pleading for more, but Bjornson—who ran it alongside each recruit—was wiped. So instead of putting himself through another gruelling round, he led the young athletes through a cool down, teaching them to stretch their arms, legs, backs and necks.
