Jasper Freeride had home snow advantage last weekend, when it hosted the Alberta Provincial Freestyle Championships with Marmot Basin.

The competition saw athletes from across the province roll into town for moguls and slopestyle skiing, and ended with numerous Freeride skiers on the podium.

By Sunday evening, the team had 14 medals: five gold, six silver and three bronze.

Taking home the gold was Alison Brown (single moguls), Jonah Jenkins (single moguls), Ezra Jenkins (dual moguls), Tyson Bashforth (dual moguls) and Elena Paskevich (slopestyle).

Brown and Jonah Jenkins also snagged silvers in dual moguls, while Ezra Jenkins and Bashforth took  silvers in the single moguls.

Other silver finishers were Olivia Krushell (single moguls) and Josh Hunter (slopestyle).

Krushell also had a bronze in dual moguls and so did Theron Boyer, marking his first medal in a provincial competition.

Rounding out the bronze medal winners was Caitlin McInnis in single moguls.

The freestyle team has about 40 athletes in total from around the region. They range in age from nine years old to 17. Most skiers don’t compete until they’re 12 or above, although the team currently has two skiers under 12 who have competed.
