The Jasper Red Fins had a full day of aquatic action, May 29, as it hosted its first swim meet in 11 years at the Jasper Fitness and Aquatic Centre.

The competition included 108 swimmers participating from seven clubs across the region.

The Red Fins took home the first place title in the 13-14 girls medley relay, the 15-17 medley relay and the 15-17 free relay.

The team also earned second place in the nine and 10 year-old mixed medley relay and the free relay and placed second in the 13-14 free relay.

Some of the Red Fins best results of the day included: Turi Duhamel winning a bronze medal in the nine and under boys category, Isabelle Glover taking home a bronze in the 13-14 girls category, Pascale Robinson scoring silver in the 15-17 girls category, Colten Thomas winning a bronze medal in the 9-10 boys category, and Mikyla Sherlow who snagged a silver medal in the 18 and over girls category.

“Despite the fact that it was our first meet, the kids all did so well. They set goals and achieved them, and it was a fun day had by all,” said Jasper Red Fins coach Mikyla Sherlow. “It wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the amazing parents and the great staff at the Jasper Fitness and Aquatic Centre.”

The Red Fins next meet will be in Whitecourt, June 11.
