It was an uneventful election for the Jasper Park Chamber of Commerce this year, with each of the positions being won by acclamation.

Taking the helm for the third year is Wayne Hnatyshin of the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. Prior to his reign as president, Hnatyshin was vice-president under Ken Kuzminski. This will be Hnatyshin’s final year as president, as the maximum term is three years.

Also acclaimed to the board was Rusty Noble as vice president; Matt Figueira as treasurer and Heather Johnson as secretary. Noble, who was the board treasurer last term, is the general manager of the Icefields Centre. Figueira, who sat as a board member, is the publisher of the Fitzhugh and Heather Johnson, who was also a board member, is the owner of Wild Orchid Salon and Spa.

Returning to the board is Dave Campbell, IT Technical Consultant, Soula Jackson, branch manager of ATB Financial, and Dale Fullerton, owner and operator of Jasper Riding Stables.

Coming back after a year off is Tammy Vathje, owner and operator of Jasper Park Liquor and Beverage Co., and joining the board for his first term is Lyle Hryniuk, owner of Tim Hortons.

Outgoing board members are Joe Couture, who is currently vice-president, and the board’s secretary, Guillermo Zuniga.

The induction of the new executive board will take place in September.

The chamber represents nearly 200 Jasper businesses. Its role is to “shine the boots” of all the visitors who come to town, and to advocate for its members when issues arise.
