Talent show Thursday

Jasper’s Got Talent is tonight, Feb. 12.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show is at 7 p.m. at the Jasper Activity Centre. As well as the show, which is a fundraiser for the high school band, there is also a silent auction. Up for auction is everything from artwork, skis and a musical showerhead.

Tickets are available at the door. Adults are $10 and students are $5.

Canada Day committee meeting

The Jasper Park Chamber of Commerce is hosting an organizational meeting for next summer’s Canada Day celebration Feb. 19.

The meeting is open to any individual, organization or business that is interested in contributing to the success of the annual event.

The meeting is at 2 p.m. in the boardroom of the Robson House on Patricia Street.

If you plan to attend, send an email to [email protected] or call 780-852-4621.

Snowboard competition postponed

The Northern Alberta Slopestyle Series event scheduled for Feb. 7 was cancelled because of treacherous road conditions. In a Facebook post, the Alberta Snowboarding Association said the event is tentatively rescheduled for March 7.

The event, which was to be held at Marmot Basin, would have been the first snowboard competition that the Jasper Freemountain Snowboard Team had ever hosted.

It’s part of a three-weekend competition that brought snowboarders to Edmonton and Grande Prairie, and will now bring them to Jasper next month.
