Paddle boarding company opens its doors

Jasper’s first standup paddleboard (SUP) company, Translucid Adventures, will officially open its doors to the public on May 29.

Located on Lake Edith, people will be able to rent paddleboards from 12 to 6 p.m. Friday to Monday, until June 23 when it opens seven days week.

Parks Canada put out a request for proposals earlier this year to offer SUP rentals at either Lake Edith or Lake Annette and accepted one from Alisen Charlten and Steph Sophocleous, the proponents responsible for Translucid Adventures.

Besides renting equipment, the women will also offer private lessons, guided interpretation, group excursions, paddle fitness and SUP yoga classes.

Although the company’s physical location is at Lake Edith, Translucid Adventures is a mobile guiding operation offering standup paddleboarding on lakes throughout the park.

Lobster season is back

The Association canadienne-française de l’Alberta (ACFA) is hosting its annual lobster fundraising dinner at Lake Annette on June 2.

Tickets are $25 per person, and can be bought at the ACFA office, located at the École Desrochers until May 28.

The outdoor event begins at 5 p.m. Participants are asked to bring a plate and fork.

Peter and the Wolves at the Legion

Calgary’s hottest rockabilly band Peter & the Wolves will rock the Jasper Royal Canadian Legion on May 30.

The quartet of stylish musicians has only been together for 10 months, but already they have garnered a lot of attention for their high-energy music and Grease Lightening like attire.

The indie rock group released its first album in April called Here Comes Peter and The Wolves.

The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $10 at the door.
