Wildfire update

Fire activity has significantly decreased in Banff National Park and the Spreading Creek Wildfire has been contained, leaving Highway 93 fully open for travellers.

The wet, cool weather last week is to thank for that.

As of July 25, fire crews were continuing to hose down the burn area, according to a press release from Parks Canada. The total size of the fire is approximately 9,000 hectares, and 2,300 hectares have burned in Banff.

All trails west of Highway 93N that were previously closed due to the wildfire are now open.

Trails in the Siffleur Region and near Noyes and Totem Creek remain closed.
