Campbell acclaimed as PC candidate

Robin Campbell, who has been MLA for West Yellowhead since 2008, has been acclaimed as the Progressive Conservative candidate for the next provincial election.
Campbell currently serves as the President of the Treasury Board and Minister of Finance under Premier Jim Prentice.
Previously, he was the Minister of Environmental and Sustainable Resource Development, as well as Minister of Aboriginal Relations.
In the 2012 general election, Campbell received 44.86 per cent of the riding’s votes; in 2008, he won 53.83 per cent.
There is no date for the next general election, but it is expected between March 1 and May 31, 2016.

Volunteer opportunity with U of A

The University of Alberta is looking for a Jasperite to act as a voice for the community on post-secondary education issues.
The U of A senate is accepting applications for volunteer members. The due date is March 2.
The senate acts as a bridge between the university and the communities it serves within the province.
U of A senators, who live all across Alberta, act as ambassadors and advocates for the university in several ways, including building awareness of the value of post-secondary education, connecting U of A people and programs with community representatives and resources, and building a positive reputation for the university on campus, in their communities and across the province.
Applicants don’t need to have a university education and they don’t need to be U of A alumni.
Application forms and more information are available on the senate website at www.senate.ualberta.ca. Click on “Senate Membership” and then on “Senate Application” on the menu.
