Construction update
Work is progressing on the 800 block of Connaught Drive, where underground utilities are being replaced in the alleyway between Spruce and Pine avenues in preparation for laneway paving.
The water and sewer lines have been replaced and now connections are being made to the homes that back onto the alleyway. There are 23 connections to be made before the alley is paved. As of Tuesday, two had been completed.
During construction, Spruce Avenue has been closed to traffic and Pine has been closed intermittently. It is expected that Spruce will be closed until October. Pine reopened to traffic Monday, Aug. 11, and is expected to remain open—aside from minor traffic disruptions while trucks and equipment are moving in and out of the alleyway—until paving begins in September.
Mini outing at Old Fire Hall
The Jasper-Yellowhead Museum and Archives is hosting its next mini outing, Aug. 19, at the Old Fire Hall.
The outing will be hosted by Parks Canada’s Kevin Gedling, who will talk about the “creative re-purposing” of the heritage building and show a short presentation to attendees about the new programs Parks is offering in the space.
The outing begins at 12 noon and everyone is welcome.
Rodeo week is here
The cowboys and girls have arrived and the events have begun.
