Looking for organizer for annual run
Unless a race organizer steps up, the annual Terry Fox Run might not take place in Jasper this year.
So, the Terry Fox Foundation is asking that anyone interested in taking on the role get in touch with the the foundation’s provincial director, Rhonda Risebrough.
“It would be such a shame for the people of Jasper to miss out on an opportunity to keep Terry’s legacy alive as every community no matter how big or small can make a huge impact,” stated Risebrough in a press release. “The Terry Fox Foundation funds research into all kinds of cancer, believing as Terry did, that we need to conquer this disease once and for all.”
This year’s event is scheduled for Sept. 14.
Anyone who’s interested in organizing the event is asked to contact Risebrough by email at [email protected] or by phone at 1-888-836-9786.
Celebrating Jasper’s volunteers
The municipality is hosting its annual Volunteer Celebration Banquet April 23 at the Jasper Activity Centre.
The event will include a buffet-style dinner and live entertainment from Hoja, a Canadian acappella group, and is open to all of the community’s volunteers.
Tickets are available at the Activity Centre front desk.
Beer and curry night
To celebrate the 35th anniversary of Jasper Rock and Jade, as well as the launch of the Jasper Celebrates India Session Ale at the Jasper Brewing Co., the two businesses have combined forces for a beer and curry night.
On April 21, the pub’s chef will demonstrate how to make a simple butter chicken curry using some of the specialty kitchen items sold at Jasper Rock and Jade. That evening, the curry will also be the featured dinner special that can be purchased for a low price with the new Jasper Celebrates beer.
The event begins at 7 p.m.
