This year, the tournament is “bigger and better” thanks to Hockey Alberta funding, said Ryan Verge, Jasper Life program co-ordinator and young adult outreach worker. There’s also going to be a buffet breakfast and barbecue lunch.
Players can sign up in one of two categories: experienced or beginner/non-competitive. Depending on non-competitive numbers, there might be a big game in that category instead of three on three, said Verge.
Participants 16 and under are asked to wear full equipment and those over 16 are required to wear CSA-approved helmets.
It costs $5 per individual or $20 per team to register, which can be done by calling 780-852-2100 or dropping in to Community Outreach Services at 627 Patricia St. Registration deadline is Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 4 p.m.
All proceeds will be donated to the Jasper Community Caring Fund, which assists with things like minor sports costs.
In addition to participants, volunteers are also being sought.
“It’s a pretty awesome spot,” said Verge of Pyramid Lake’s setting.
“Even if you’re not playing, come up and watch and join the barbecue, and hang out at the lake for the day.”
