Freewheel Cycle’s Freeskool kicked off for the summer June 21, with a party that saw more than 50 kids and their parents take over the woods across from the Mount Robson Inn just off Connaught Drive.

Last Saturday the 35 youngsters who signed up for the bike club this year were treated to a high-intensity trail ride - and doughnut-eating contest - at the makeshift bike course Freewheel staff set up.

According to Freewheel’s Wendy Hall, Freeskool has been running for close to 15 years, giving Jasper’s tiniest cyclists a chance to get comfortable on the trails, and learn some technique and bike safety along the way.

The club will run for the remainder of the summer, taking its members on weekly trail rides all over the park.
