Hundreds of rubber duckies plummeted into the Miette River, Sept. 28, and raced down river to the finish line at the Highway 93A bridge, in the 22nd annual Duck Race.

This year’s winning duck, Zola, belonged to Soula Jackson, earning her the grand prize of $1,000. Floating into second place was Chuck Barker’s quacker and in third was Terri Smith’s, garnering $300 and $200, respectively.

The Duck Race is an annual fundraiser organized by the Right to Read Society and the Jasper-Yellowhead Historical Society.

Following the dramatic drop from the Miette River bridge on Highway 93, paddlers followed the ducks down river, collecting up the stragglers as they fell behind and making predictions on which ducky would take the prize.
