Four people were killed in a collision involving a motorhome on the Icefields Parkway July 9.

According to the RCMP, early investigation indicates that a car traveling south bound, carrying three occupants - a 47-year-old man, his 42-year-old wife and their 15-year-old son - collided head on with a motorhome traveling north at approximately 7 p.m., 25 kilometres southeast of Jasper.

The Calgary and Grand Prairie STARS air ambulances were called to the crash at about 7:20 p.m.

The three occupants of the car were declared dead at the scene. The female passenger in the motorhome also passed away at the scene. She was 79.

The driver of the motorhome, husband of the deceased 79-year-old woman, was airlifted via STARS to an Edmonton hospital and is in serious conditions.

The RCMP has confirmed that the occupant of the motorhome who died in the collision was from Germany.  The occupants of the car were a family from China.  All of the parties involved were vacationing in Canada. Jasper emergency services as well as Parks Canada Wardens assisted in this matter.  The RCMP traffic analyst is attending and an investigation is underway.
