Cyclists Mike Woodard, Robert Montgomery, Timo Itkonen, Richard Blaschek head out on the seventh leg of their 8500 km journey to St. Johns, Newfoundland accompanied by Greg Van Tighem. The cyclists are raising funds and awareness for the Global Aid Network’s (GAiN) Water for Life Initiative, which helps to provide water wells with safe drinking water for needy communities in Africa. According to GAiN officials, the riders hope to raise enough funds to support the construction of 60 wells, resulting in disease-free water for approximately 60,000 villagers. The ride, which kicked off in Victoria, British Columbia on July 1, is also being held in partnership with GAiN, a worldwide humanitarian relief and development organization. The riders are expected to reach their final destination on August 23. To find out more about Water for Life or support the initiative visit www.globalaid.net
