Last weekend the Jasper Curling Club’s mixed bonspiel drew teams from across the province to compete for curling glory in the Rocky Mountains.
Thirty-four teams came out to the event, which ran from March 28-29, and on March 29 six of them competed in the A, B and C final events.
Unlike at the ladies bonspiel two weeks ago, locals had a tough time making it to the finals this time around, with only the Wincharuk rink having a Jasperite on the team.
But that did nothing to dampen the level of play Sunday afternoon.
The on-ice story of the weekend was the Branting Rink, which convincingly won the A finals over their opponents in the Hutchings rink.
Branting has been coming to the tournament for decades, and the win represents his first return to the top spot since taking the title 23 years ago.
The B final saw Brand, from Cochrane, come up on top over the Dressler rink from Edmonton. In the C final, the Coston Rink from Red Deer beat the mixed rink of Wincharuk.
