One thousand rubber ducks floated and bobbed their way down the Miette River to raise money for the Jasper Right to Read Society and the Jasper Yellowhead Historical Society, Sept. 27.
The 23rd annual Duck Race raised $3,500 that will be split evenly between the two organizations.
Prior to dropping the ducks from the Miette Bridge on Highway 93, organizers took a few moments to recognize Joe Couture's contribution to the fundraiser over the years, as one of the biggest ticket sellers. Couture passed away in September.
Matt Turnbull had the winning duck this year, taking home $1,000, while Joyce Butler had the second place duck and Stella MacMahon came third. Butler took home $300 and MacMahon $200.
