For the second year in a row, Keith Thibout was the fastest runner in the annual 10-kilometre Root Romp, Oct. 18, earning a gold medal in the adult male category.
Thiboult completed the gruelling race in 48 minutes and 16 seconds—one second faster than in 2013.
Jiri Planickova (49 minutes and 10 seconds) and Ian Cleland (50 minutes and 43 seconds) filled out the top three in the adult male category.
Lenka Planickova took the top spot in the adult female category with a time of 51 minutes and seven seconds.
Planickova was followed by Elynyd Benjamin (56 minutes and 52 seconds) and Ynsey Romano (one hour, four minutes and 59 seconds).
The arduous race had 42 participants, all of whom were taken through a forest path, with plenty of steep hills, bogs and gnarly roots, beginning and ending at the activity centre parking lot.
