Mounties in Alberta are expected to search a lake in the Rocky Mountains for a man who went missing from an overturned canoe.

RCMP say investigators will search Barrier Lake in Kananaskis, southwest of Calgary, for a 30-year-old man from the city.

Three people were in the canoe on Saturday evening when it capsized.

They say a 60-year-old Calgary man died, while a 56-year-old woman, also from Calgary, was taken to hospital with hypothermia.

People are being asked to avoid the area so crews have room to work.

RCMP sends condolences to the family and friends of the 60-year-old man.
