Unwed Mothers crash pride party

Edmonton band the Unwed Mothers will perform at Whistle Stop’s Pride Weekend party, and may even dress to suit the event’s fairy tale theme.

“I’ll see what the boys say,” laughs vocalist, guitar and keys player, Julie Adams. “Maybe we can dig up some costumes.” The “boys” are fellow bandmates Michael James, Kurtis Schultz and Josh Eygenraam. They worked together on a few projects and jammed collectively before they joined forces with Adams to form Unwed Mothers.

Seth Macdonald and Shara Gustafson, best known for fronting the funk/rock/reggae/world groove high-energy dance band Mamaguroove, have ventured into new musical territory.

Samson’s Delilah will feature an acoustic twist that is heavily influenced by Latin guitar, reggae and other world music. As a duo, Macdonald and Gustafson believe they create a powerful and passionate performance.

Local artists Sharon Anderson and Marla Joy Pollock have joined forces to create a sacred space. 

The gallery at the Jasper Yellowhead Museum and Archives is presenting “The Art of Remembering,” a display of journalistic storylines that celebrate the web of life. The show will be on display from April 4-28, with an Earth Day Celebration to take place on April 22.

Calgary’s Fairy Tales Film Festival has focused its lens on Jasper’s Pride Weekend.

The Fairy Tales Presentation Society and Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge have collaborated to offer a Flicks and Treats event April 13. The event involves dinner and a screening of five or six LGBTQ short films.
