photo420.jpgThis past weekend (March 13) 14 swimmers and four coaches from the Jasper River Dragons Swim Team all competed in the Provincial Lifesaving Championships in Edmonton. On both mornings, the competitors showed up at the Nait College Campus at 6:30 a.m. From then on they were busy swimming more than six events each. The championships came to a close at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. The Jasper River Dragons team came in 11th overall, with some competitors bringing home medals.

Coach Jo-Ann Sherlow said, “We may not have come in first place, but with the amount of teammates we had this weekend, all of the kids did a great job.”

“This year I have seen so many positive changes in these kids. At the beginning of the season some of the swimmers were afraid to get into the water, now we have them diving off the blocks and doing flip turns. I’m very proud of all them. It’s been a great year,” coach Mikyla Sherlow said.
The swim team will have their last practice of the season next week.
