The inaugural Canada Cup involving teams from schools in the United Kingdom took place at Marmot Basin on Dec. 19.
Students from several British schools travelled to Jasper earlier in December and spent a week training on the mountain before competing in slalom and giant slalom events.
The competing schools included Eton College (where Prince William and Prince Harry studied), Harrow School and Surbiton High School for girls.
Skiers from Harrow ended up winning the team slalom and giant slalom events, securing the Canada Cup for their school. Students from Harrow have been travelling to Marmot Basin for training for the past five years.
The Canada Cup is promoted in Europe as a way for skiers to get some early season training and competition experience, before the competitive European season begins after Christmas. More than 60 people came from across the Atlantic to Marmot Basin this past December.
