The Alberta Winter Games organizers have a convenient way for speed skating spectators to get to and from the event at Lake Mildred. A courtesy shuttle will run all day Saturday and Sunday between town and the venue, also stopping at the parking lot near the lumber yard.
Parking is very limited at Jasper Park Lodge, with most stalls reserved for hotel guests, so Games organizers strongly recommend finding an alternate location to park your vehicle for the day if you are planning to attend the speed skating event. The lot near the yard is a good option for visitors to town. The first bus will leave the Jasper Junior/Senior High School at 6:45 a.m. both mornings, stopping at the lumber yard at the top of the hour and arriving at the Jasper Park Lodge by 7:30. This schedule will be repeated every hours through the day, with the final trip running at 4:45 p.m. The final pick-up at the lodge is scheduled for 5:30.
To arrive at the parking lot near the lumber yard, turn left at the lights located at the intersection of Connaught Drive and Hazel Avenue. After crossing the train tracks, the lot is to your right.
Three other Jasper-based events are held at the Activity Centre (figure skating and squash) and high school gym is home to the fencing competition. The regular parking for these facilities may be in short supply, but visitors should be aware that there are several parking lots located on and around Connaught Drive that are a short walk from the venues. |
