Bearcats crush rivals
Last Saturday, despite a slow start, the Jasper Bearcats Midget A hockey team convincingly beat Evansburg 7-1. Before the game, the players were revved up and ready to dominate, confident that they would, with home ice advantage, beat their rivals.
Coni Bowen, the Bearcats’ manager, said that even though they started “a little sluggish... They really work well as a team, these kids, considering there’s three age levels here. And I think the coach has some really good lines with them.”
Once they got their “legs going” in the second, said coach Dennis Zaffino, goals were scored by assistant captain Russell Turner, Devon McClory, and Clayton Gagnon. It “turned out to be a pretty good second half of the game... overall they played not too bad” after the second, said Zaffino.
Goals in the third were scored by Devon McClory, Jayton Paul, and assistant captains Jordan Kocon and Russell Turner. “They pass well, they play as a team,” said Bowen. The Bearcats’ next game is Saturday, Dec. 6, at 5 p.m. at the Jasper arena vs. Whitecourt. |
