With the sun shining, the Jasper girls soccer teams took to the field on Saturday, May 2 to open the season at home playing host to Hinton and Edson.
Jasper reigned champions in the first game of the day with the Jasper 91’s winning by three goals against Hinton. The two teams, Jasper 91’s and 92’s managed to tie up each of the other games.
Proving to be a popular sport in Jasper, 250 kids will take part in the season this year.
Young Jasperites play in the North West Central League and play host to a variety of teams throughout the two month long season. The teams compete against Whitecourt, Drayton Valley, Evansberg, Edson and Hinton.
Laurie Buck is still looking for more referees to help with the games. Anyone interested should contact her at 780-852-5929. |
