Jasper fields biggest team ever
Jasper’s gymnastics club just keeps getting more awards. During their latest venture to St Alberta, all of the girls on the team received an award of some kind.
Competing in the St. Albert Rodeo Round Up on Saturday May 2, and Sunday May 3, coach Nadia Wassef took thirteen girls to the competition to compete in a range of events that were arranged by skill level and age.
“I think the biggest highlight would be that we took the most amount of gymnasts ever,” said Wassef adding that the team was “twice the size it was even a month ago”.
“I think everybody did very will, in general,” she said
For three girls – Sophie Koleman, Breanna Tassoni and Lauren Nissen – the competition was particularly special, as it was their first time competing with the club.
Happily enjoying their new permanent home in the Activity Centre, Wassef said the space “made a big impact” on the overall performance of the Jasper team.
Wassef also said that the team was known for having the largest group of cheering parents and friends as the girls competed throughout the weekend.
The whole club, which consists of about 100 children, will compete in another competition at the end of May in Canmore. |
