Lake Louise RCMP is still investigating the death of Jay Thomas Roberson, 36, a Michigan State University student whose body was discovered in the North Saskatchewan River near Highway #93 about one kilometre south of the Weeping Wall on Monday, July 26th 2009. A pair of cyclists saw Roberson’s body in the middle of the river and contacted police.

It’s believed Roberson was staying at Rampart Creek Campground and was living in a tent. Some personal belongings, located at this campsite, and his car have been removed for further examination.

Police are asking the public if they saw anyone associated to a Grey Chev Malibu parked on Highway #93 at the base of the big bend.

While Roberson’s death is not considered suspicious, police are conducting a thorough investigation of the incident. An autopsy was conducted on July 28, however the cause of death has yet to be released.

Investigators believe Roberson owned a kayak and are asking the public for help in locating the kayak. It is described as an “Old Town Guide” brand with green being the predominant colour and having various names of locations handwritten on the sides.

If anyone locates the kayak, they are asked to contact the Lake Louise RCMP Detachment at 403-522-3811.
