photo432.jpgA major head-on car crash between two vehicles on Highway 16 has seriously injured two people.

The accident occurred on Wednesday, March 24 around 1 p.m. near Talbot Lake.

Both vehicles contained one occupant and both were transported to the Hinton Hospital where their conditions were listed as non-life threatening.

Both victims were stabilized at the scene of the accident.

According to a Jasper RCMP news release on the matter by Cpl. Tony Dolhan, “Road conditions were good and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.”

It is believed that one of the vehicles crossed the centre line, causing the accident.

One of the vehicles was completely destroyed in a fire that occurred after the collision. Its license plate of origin could not be determined.

Debris from the second car, which had rolled over in the incident, included camping gear, children’s bicycles and other family related paraphernalia, which was strewn about the scene of the crash. Its license plate of origin was B.C.

Highway 16 was closed in both directions from about 1:15 p.m. until 2:15 p.m.
