A man and woman are facing numerous charges of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking after police allege to have found several vials of pills in their vehicle after a stop on Highway 16, two kilometres east of Jasper.

The man, William Westman of Red Deer, and woman, Jennifer Eglinski of Edmonton, were pulled over by Jasper RCMP on March 9 and appeared in Jasper Provincial Court on March 11.

Bail was set for Westman at $2,500 cash, while Eglinski was denied bail. At the time of her alleged crimes, she was on probation for another crime.
Both will appear in Jasper Provincial Court again on March 25.

According to Crown Prosecutor Erwin Schulz, Jasper police passed the vehicle on Highway 16 and noticed a woman lying down, fully reclined in the passenger seat.

The officer soon pulled the vehicle over and discovered that Eglinski had outstanding warrants for past crimes and that she was also on probation for other crimes.

Westman and Eglinski each had a small amount of marijuana on them and have been charged with possession of an illegal substance, police said.

Inside the vehicle, a crack pipe, digital scale and a hatchet with a string attached to the handle were found, which landed both with a charge for possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes, police said.

Two one ounce vials, one containing large amounts of testosterone pills and another containing another illegal drug under the Controlled Substances Act of Canada, were also found, said Schulz.

A pit bull dog was also in the car.

Schulz told the court that neither Eglinski or Westman tested positive for the use of cocaine or methamphetamines.
