Jasper’s Community Dinners are up and running again, with the first taking place in late December.

The dinners were suspended temporarily during the holidays but they will return on Jan. 8 and run right through until April.

This is Community Outreach Services’ ninth year organizing Community Dinners. They began in the winter of 2002-2003 – a year that saw the ski hill open late, leaving many people without jobs – as a way to help out Jasper’s struggling seasonal workers.

Since then, the dinners, which are by donation, have become a social event for all of Jasper’s residents, with guests ranging from infants to seniors.

“Two-hundred to 300 people eat there every Sunday,” said Patrick Mooney, adult outreach worker with Community Outreach.

The meals take place at the Jasper Activity Centre and are prepared by different volunteer chefs each week.

For more information on the Community Dinners, contact Mooney at 780-852-6542.
