Next time, hold it
A late night pit stop has cost Michael Ruby $115. Returning home from a night on the town earlier this month, Ruby stopped to relieve himself around three
a.m. — in the front doorway of Tekarra Photo Shop. Ruby appeared before a provincial judge Thursday, where the fine was assessed for improper waste disposal.
Chastised by Judge Donald Norheim for being “inconsiderate,” Ruby explained that after the bar closed he had to answer nature’s call. He might think twice next time around.
At least he found his dog
The 2005 Labour Day weekend turned out to be a costly one for Corey Joseph Coffey, who was fined $500 for making a noise disturbance.
At approximately 1 a.m. on September 3, park wardens responded to a noise complaint at the Whistler’s Campground, where they found Coffey and his sitemates playing music and having a campfire in violation of the nighttime ban. After several warnings, Coffey continued to scream after his dog, which he claimed had run off.
Provincial Court Judge Donald Norheim noted that a $500 fine for such an offense was “not usual” but that Coffey had been given several opportunities to stop making a disturbance.
“I was being stupid,” Coffey said. “My dog had run away though, but he did return at the last call.” The Judge was clearly unmoved by this emotional tale. |
