It was standing-room only in the Jasper Activity Centre last Friday for the Royal Canadian Legion’s annual Remembrance Day ceremony. The large crowd paid homage to Canada’s veterans living and dead and this year also paid particular respects to the soldiers and railway men who died in the Canoe River train collision in 1950.

Veteran Dong Han, representing the local Korean community, made a dedication to all Canadian troops that had served in the Korean War.

In the photo to the right, from left to right, Bob Dowling, Laurence Lalonde, Dong Han and Robert Brown stand next to the cenotaph with the plaque which soon will be mounted on the side.

Below, Sergeant at Arms, Laurence Lalonde observes the ceremony.

Below right, John Bowen proudly poses with a 60 year pin which he received for being a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Jasper Branch.

During the public wreath laying, a special wreath was lain in remembrance of the four RCMP officers killed in Mayerthorpe March 3, 2005.
