Jasper Junior/Senior High School is hosting a class from Quebec for the second time this winter. This time around, the students are from Montreal and the exchange has been sponsored by the YMCA/YWCA of Canada.
The Montrealers arrived in Jasper last Saturday (March 25) and have spent the week enjoying all that the great outdoors has to offer in this part of the world, including cross-country skiing, a canyon ice walk and two days at Marmot Basin. Lest one believe that the trip has been all play and no work, the visitors took in Parks Canada’s caribou field trip on Sunday and will spend Friday morning reading in French to elementary school classes at JES. The group heads eastward on Saturday (April 1).
The return trips involving Jasper students are set for the end of next month. The Grade 10 French students will be in Baie-Comeau from April 22-29, while the Grade 11 group is Montreal-bound on April 29, returning May 6.
“The students are getting excited, but I think they’re looking forward to spring break even more,” said high school principal Dale Karpluk. |
