Two days of celebrations held last Friday and Saturday marked the ceremonial end of the Grade 12 year at Jasper Junior/Senior High School. From the cap and gown ceremony on Friday (May 11) afternoon to the dinner and dance on Saturday (May 12) evening, the Grads of 2006 were feted by schoolmates, parents, teachers and members of the community.
While the events honoured the graduating students and their achievements, the outgoing senior class took time to honour those that helped them along the way. During the Saturday dinner ceremony, students toasted the parents and staff of the High School.
“It’s not only the teachers that have an impact on the students; it’s the entire junior/senior high staff that put in extra time making the student their number one priority,” said Grade 12 student Dave Hudson in his toast. “All the staff have helped with our success.”
Hudson pointed out the particular contribution of Holly Hammell, who was the teacher that helped to organize grad, as well as Angie Lemire, the retiring teacher who made the keynote address. Just one final act remains for the Grads: final exams. |
