Between a barbeque and live chickens (don’t worry, they weren’t eaten on the spot), Nutter’s Bulk and Natural Foods raised some $450 for two challenged community programs over the weekend.
The “Funds for Fun” event, organized by Nutter’s and supported by donors and volunteers of all varieties, raised cash to help Jasper’s Summer Fun and Out of School programs survive.
“I’m on the FCSS board so I knew there was a need,” said Nutter’s manager Sandra Coombe. “I think they’re really important programs for the community.”
Coombe extended thanks to her suppliers, including Coca-Cola, and the Bearspaw bakery for providing all food products free of charge, and the many volunteers who gave their time and grilling expertise to the event.
“It was the first time I’ve done something like it, and it was great. We’d definitely do it again,” said Coombe. |
