The Municipality of Jasper teamed up with ATCO Gas and ATCO Electric to produce an emergency guide that will educate residents in the event of an emergency.

The guide, which is being mailed out to all of Jasper’s households, has information on what to do in the event of a wildfire, gas leak, storms, chemical releases and more.

“ATCO is pleased to be a part of this important community preparedness initiative,” said Bobbi Lambright, president of ATCO’s Electric Operations Division. “An emergency or disaster can happen at any time so knowing what to do and having a plan is key.”

Jim Lewis, general supervisor for ATCO Gas Yellowhead West region, was at the Jasper Safety Fair on June 18 to make the presentation to Mayor Richard Ireland.

“In times of emergency it is essential that residents have ready access to the information they need to respond appropriately,” said Ireland. “The opportunity to partner with ATCO in this important initiative significantly enhances the capacity of the Municipality of Jasper to better serve its residents and visitors.”

The new guide has detailed information on what to include in emergency kits for resident’s homes, vehicles and pets.
