It’s tree decorating time
Once again, Heads Up hair salon is participating in the Festival of Trees.
The Festival of Trees is an event run by Karen Byers at the Jasper Museum and Archives each year. The museum donates the trees to participants who then have the freedom to decorate the tree any way they desire before they are auctioned off as a fundraiser. Originally, the event was run by a local church group but Karen took over once popularity grew.
Candice Davis, owner of Heads Up, said the event is fun and she enjoys seeing the trees each year. She has been decorating trees for the last three years for the event.
This year, the salon is decorating the tree with various elements of their workplace. Hand painted nails, tanning products and other products from the salon, as well as over 150 chocolates will be hung from the 3-ft. tree. Davis estimates the total cost of the tree to be around $200.
Jasperites have the opportunity to see all the trees and bid on their favourite tree until Dec. 19 when winners will be contacted. Entrance to the museum is free during the Festival of Trees.
Ten per cent of the funds raised will go to the Community Dinner Fund and the rest will support the museum. |
