Giant fitness class to raise funds for cancer

On March, 28 the Jasper Fitness Network will be hosting a large-scale, extended exercise class in the multi-purpose hall at the Activity Centre to raise funds for breast cancer research.

Between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., residents are encouraged to participate in this event for a good cause. The fee is $20 and all money raised will be donated for research purposes.

“We wanted to give back,” said Lourdes Nunes, co-owner of the Fitness Network. “We’ve been running this business in the community for four years now and it’s very supportive of us and we just decided to do something to give back.”

Nunes was quick to emphasize that this is a “fun community event for anybody who wants to contribute to the cause” and it’s for men, women and people of all ages and physical abilities. The fitness instructors will “mix it up a lot,” she said, so it’s not going to be two hours of straight physical activity.

There will also be a door prize draw at the end of the event.

People are encouraged to pre-register so that the number of instructors and room capacity can be determined. To pre-register or to donate a door prize, contact Lourdes Nunes at 780-852-9601 or send her an email at lurgee30@live.ca.
