Travel Alberta has unleashed the Alberta Holiday Card, which it calls a “powerful marketing tool”, for the fourth year in a row to promote Alberta-based tourism products in Western Canada.

About 13 of Jasper’s businesses, which include hotels, attractions and restaurants, are currently taking part in the program and Jasperites also have the opportunity to utilize the card which offers users discounts throughout the province.

One unique aspect of the program is that it’s free for businesses to be part of with participation as easy as logging onto the Travel Alberta website and posting an offer, which then becomes available to the public.

According to Don Boyton, executive director of corporate communication for Travel Alberta, the card is designed to meet the needs of different buying groups by offering the public the latest offerings through email which are customized to meet their interests.

Thus, a person interested in hiking would be shown specials that hotels or rental equipment companies in Jasper currently have to offer.

The flexibility of the program means that both consumers and business owners can quickly update or view the latest offerings that are available.

The program is currently being advertised on radio and TV, and more than 1,000 people have ordered the card which offers local businesses a wide reach in audience without any direct cost to their business.

Anybody interested in getting their hands on a card can order one at travelalberta.com/card.
