It’s a busy summer for Edmonton’s Boogie Patrol as they juggle festival dates and a West Coast tour, but the band will roll into Jasper on July 9.
The Jasper stop will be a great opportunity to check out the band ahead of their headlining gig for the Wild Mountain Music Festival on July 15.
Boogie Patrol has opened for some big names on the blues scene, including Buddy Guy, who was listed 30th on Rolling Stones’ 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.
The band’s vocalist, “Rotten” Dan Shinnan, who also rocks the harmonica, said music fans who enjoy a good night of dancing will have a great time at the show. The five-piece band’s original music creates a high-energy atmosphere. The members have been together for four and a half years, and come from all over the world – creating a unique blues sound. Drummer Jeff Lisk calls Chicago home and guitarist Yuji Ihara comes all the way from Japan. The band is rounded out by Nigel Gale on bass and Sean “Keys” Grieve on the keyboard.
“We all hail from here and there,” said Shinnan.
Boogie Patrol is from Edmonton, but the band rarely sees the inside of the city as they tour for most of the year.
“We’re always out of town,” Shinnan said.
This summer the band will make it out to the West Coast for the first time to deliver their sound. This will be their first stop in Jasper as well.
Shinnan said the sound that Boogie Patrol brings is good old blues music.
“If you’ve got the big ears, you’re going to be digging this,” he said.
Boogie Patrol is currently in the process of recording a new album set to be released in August, and the tunes to be performed in Jasper and their other summer dates will be brand new.
“Any age can dig what we’re putting down,” said Shinnan.
