Vancouver’s Daniel Wesley will take the stage Friday night in Jasper for a free performance at the Atha B Nite Club.

It looks like a warm-up session for Daniel, as the group’s leader Daniel Wesley calls the group, which opens for the Trews in the Edmonton Event Centre the following night.

The band, which has been blowing up the airwaves across Canada with a hit single, according to Atha B bar manager Rob Kennedy, is working with a new drummer.

Wesley announced earlier this month that he has parted ways with Daniel drummer Alexander James Glassford for “creative, personal, and business differences.”

“This was not a quick and rash decision, but one made thoughtfully over the course of the last few months. The band has had so many unbelievable moments together, but also had their share of difficult moments together,” Wesley said in a message posted on the band’s website.

Daniel Wesley enlisted the aid of legendary Social D drummer Charlie Quintana to help out during the band’s current cross-country tour. Charlie has played for the likes of Bob Dylan and Sheryl Crow and will return to Social D.

Rounding out the trio is the classically-trained Marc Luongo, who started his music training at the age of four. While Mozart, Bach and Beethoven were household names, exposure to popular music by means of his father’s work with the Langley Ukulele Ensemble piqued his interest.

Luongo’s prowess with the ukulele earned him a place in the Senior Ensemble - playing the acoustic bass. The challenge of learning a new instrument pushed him into a serious self-directed study of jazz and blues music that would ultimately help to shape a life-long passion for funk and groove.

Wesley started his career in music in choirs and vocal groups in elementary school through high school where he also played in both the ukulele and concert bands.

He formed his first band at the age of fifteen, the punk rock outfit called The Dropouts. Continuing on with the hard rock scene, Daniel picked up the guitar at sixteen and fronted local bands General Mayhem, Audiophile and Replica.
