Hinton On Stage is bringing one of the world’s top ten mandolin players, John Reischman, to town on March 23, according to promotions manager Brian Carnell.
A group of five musicians, John Reischman and the Jaybirds is a bluegrass band that is no stranger to the Canadian landscape.
With Juno nominations and four albums, Carnell said the band at best is very special to him because “they’re just so good. It’s hard to say who’s the best mandolin player in the world, but I think there would be consensus that John Resihman is probably in the top ten. There wouldn’t be much argument about that, he’s a studio musician, a solo artist, a group leader, [he’s] just amazing.”
According to Carnell, who has known the band for many years, the band is best described as “bluegrass band [with] blistering instrumental and wonderful vocal harmonies.”
The band will unleash its bluegrass sound and vocal harmonies at the Hinton Alliance Church, which was picked as it has the best acoustics in Hinton and the best sound system.
Hinton On Stage, a non-profit organization operating in partnership with the Yellowhead Rotary Arts Society and funded by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, has been putting on a series of events for the community and is holding another in April.
Tickets will be available at the door for $25 and can be purchased prior to the event a the Hinton Library. |
