Art inspired by Jazz
Jasperites are invited to enjoy the beginning of spring by enjoying some jazz music while watching local artists paint, in a celebration named Jazz Art on Saturday May 23.
The event will happen on Elm Street, which will be closed for the event, between the Post Office and the Bushfire Gallery.
“We can be outside, like a terrace and have a drink,” said Marie-France Miron, Alberta French Canadian Association (AFCA) president.
“We like the idea because we don’t have many things like that going on in Jasper and people really enjoy that,” said Miron, adding that the association hopes to make it a regular part of the Jasper calendar.
A Jazz band from Edmonton will be in town for the event, who will commence playing at 8 p.m., and local artists will then paint out in the street.
“The way it works is you have some painters that are using the music as inspiration to paint,” said Miron.
A free event, Miron said the whole family was welcome from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., but after that it will be restricted to 18 years and older as the event is licensed with a beer tent being set up as well. All the funds raised are going towards the library renovations project, that will hopefully mean the AFCA have a new home. |
