The Art of the Earth Show and Sale opened at the Jasper-Yellowhead Museum and Archive on Friday evening.
Artists Wanda Whaley, Edith VanderKloot, and Anna Carnell spent all day Friday setting up the show, and in the evening the doors opened to the public.
Wanda Whaley, from Bentley, Alta. makes cave style paintings using the traditional means of grinding rock into a powder and combining it with oil to make paint.

On Sunday, March 14, the East Coast band Share will play at the Brushfire Gallery.
Andrew Sisk, the band lead, says he is excited to be playing in Jasper again. Last year in June, Share rolled through town and left a lasting impression on both Jasper and themselves.
“We are always excited to go to Jasper; there are all the reasons in the world to want to go to Jasper,” said Sisk.

Leaving a family and career in The Phillipines to work as a housekeeper in Canada is a reality many Jasper women have chosen. But it’s a decision many local residents don’t fully understand.
That dilemma and others will be examined on next Wednesday evening, as an exploration of the lives of Filipino women will highlight Jasper’s International Women’s Day celebrations on March 10.

The pungent streets of East St. Louis will replace the clean Canadian Rockies air for one night in Jasper.
The Glass Menagerie, by Tennessee Williams, will be at the Jasper Activity Centre on March 20, as part of Arts Jasper’s latest offering.
Director Bonnie Gratz said mounting a production of such a famous play presents new challenges, so an intense and unorthodox rehearsal regimen was put into place that emphasized memory and experience instead of lines.

His shadow simply wouldn’t shrink or grow- the sun cast it tall and lanky for hours behind him, on into what felt like the dead of night, as Kyprios marched away from a Canada Day show in the North West Territories that he’d played with fellow members of Vancouver rap crew Sweatshop Union. And as the lead MC basked in that endless solstice midnight high noon, he was struck by a swooning, sinking feeling.

What happens when two local artists have mastered the watercolour landscapes of Jasper but continue to push the artistic possibilities of the paintbrush? Now What!, a three weekend art show and workshop by artists Alan Butler and Ray Syrja.
After an attempted show last year that was held off due to family matters, Butler and Syrja are again ready to display their artwork on the walls of the Jasper Artists Guild starting with the show opening this Friday, March 5.
