fssetEvery month we have something to celebrate in the library.

March is dedicated to our French speaking friends for Francophonie Month. You may ask, why March? Because International Francophonie Day (Journée internationale de la Francophonie) is March 20th, celebrating the French language and Francophone culture. Fortunately, we have the L'Association Canadienne Française de Jasper (ACFA) with director Emilie Langley as our library neighbor and partner next door. So, we are more than happy to celebrate with them. We are showcasing many of our new and exciting books, audiobooks, and DVDs in French on display in the reading room. Wednesday, March 13, at 6:30 p.m., Emilie will read French Children's Books and lead through a craft all in French. So, bring your "big kids" and enjoy la belle langue.

Another highlight of our programming next month will be the Happiness Programme for seniors. This program is an interactive light projector that features over 80 sensory games and activities for people who need bigger surfaces to play digital games. It uses interactive light technology to project big game displays on flat surfaces like tables. It is a unique piece of equipment designed to bring joy and happiness and is proven to have a remarkably positive impact on those who use it. The Happiness Programme will be set up for twelve days (March 7th to 19th) in the reading room and we will provide help introducing anybody interested to the different games.

Are you interested in learning more about our one and only native snake species here in Jasper National Park, the Western Terrestrial Garter Snake? We have just the right person to introduce you to the fascinating world of this reptile: Niki Wilson, Jasper's beloved wildlife writer. She would like to learn from you where you have seen this swift blur on the trail, and in doing so, she will create a map of all sightings and add to the knowledge of their habitat. Bring your photos and trail notes to the Snake Talk on Thursday, March 21, at 6:30 p.m. in the library's reading room.

Back on popular demand is the Adult Nerf Night on Thursday, March 27, at 6:30 p.m. in the library, organized by COS and the library. The library will close for this action-filled event at 7 pm. You do not need to bring any equipment, but be on time (6:30 p.m.): space is limited!

And the Library Book Club is meeting for a second time to discuss the book "The Vaster Wilds" by Lauren Groff on March 28 at 6:30 p.m. This adventure book is still available to be picked up in the library.

And last but not least: We would like to hear from you! How do you find our services here in the library, in what areas can we improve or what do you really enjoy in the library?  Please have your say, give us your opinion. Follow the links on our webpage www.jasperlibrary.ab.ca to participate in the Plan of Service Survey. Thank you.
