Mandatory helmet call wrong headed

Seriously, it drives me mad to have people tell me what to do or how to live my life. As long as I’m not endangering anyone else, why is it any business of yours? If a person makes the decision not to wear a helmet, who am I to tell him other wise? It is the same for seatbelts.

Should you wear them? Yes. Should you be made to wear them? Absolutely not. I have never been to Marmot Basin before and if they invoke a helmet policy I never will. I am so very glad that Jasper does not have helmet policy regarding bikes. If they did I would still not wear it, It would not feel good feeling like a criminal or getting a charge but we all know that for evil to prosper, good men must do nothing. We need to stand against this madness!

A chance to protect Alberta’s grizzly bear

For the second time in a row, Alberta’s Endangered Species Conservation Committee, a multi-stakeholder committee representing government, First Nations, industry, forestry, academia, ranchers, hunters and conservationists, has recommended that Alberta’s grizzly bear be listed as a threatened species under the Wildlife Act.

It is now up to Sustainable Resource Development Minister Mel Knight to decide if the grizzly bear will be given the legal protection it needs.

The best available science estimates there are fewer than 360 mature breeding grizzly bears remaining in Alberta. But Minister Knight does not seem convinced that special protection is needed. To help him make this seemingly obvious decision, he is asking his fellow cabinet members for their opinion. The government must quit playing politics with Alberta’s Great Bear.

This is Alberta’s chance to protect this iconic species. Help Minister Knight make the right decision! Please take a moment to call or write Minister Knight and your local MLA and tell them you fully support listing the grizzly bear as threatened.

Do you think the delay in the Glacier Discovery Walk decision means it’s less likely the project will be approved?
