RCMP costs up six per cent

Coun. Jane Macridis questioned Dan Pagely, director of community, corporate and protective services, about a $70,000 increase to the current budget for Hinton’s RCMP service.

It was stated that this was reflective of the new contract, which shows up as being approximately a six-per-cent increase.

Trails and development collide

Town manager Bernie Kreiner stated that a number of people who don’t live near Eaton Drive and Eaton Road were wondering what was happening with the hiking trails in the area, which is undergoing new residential development.

Many people don’t realize that these trails are encroaching on private land until development on ‘their’ trails begins, Kreiner said.

Mayor Glenn Taylor encouraged citizens to ask questions and attend local events to learn what is happening with development of land in and around the town.
