Need a little funk in your life? How about some reggae? Or rock? Or ‘Guroove’?
Well tonight’s the night to get your fix.
Mamaguroove, the eclectic five-piece band from Dunster, B.C. that plays a little bit of everything, is back in Jasper for a show at the Royal Canadian Legion on Oct. 27.
The band’s lead vocalist Shara Gustafson said she’s excited to be coming back to Jasper.
“The crowd is diverse,” she said. “(There are) so many people funnelling through there in the winter time and in the summer time that you get a lot of different people that wouldn’t normally come and see your shows, as well as the hardcore people that always come. It’s a pretty nice mix of people.”
In the band along with Gustafson is her husband Seth Macdonald, guitar and vocals, Chris Chapman (Macdonald’s cousin), bass and vocals, Dave McKillican, drums, and David Radies, saxophone.
The group has been playing together for 10 years, in different variations.
Gustafson said the biggest change over the years is the quality of their music.
“As it goes with age and as it goes with experience, we’re way better performers than we were 10 years ago.”
The evening is Star Wars-themed, so everyone is encouraged to come in costume for a chance to win a prize. The music starts at 9 p.m. |
