The Jasper Volunteer Fire Brigade has earned the Pepsi Refresh grant for $5,000 that will fund the purchase of a Jacob’s Ladder for the new fitness centre.
Jasper Fire Chief Greg Van Tighem said the fire brigade’s pitch for a $5,000 grant for the piece of fitness equipment came in fourth place in the health category out of many entries. The Jasper pitch was one of three funded in Alberta, and 43 across Canada.
Van Tighem said the fitness equipment has been ordered and will be added to the equipment at the newly renovated activity centre when it opens in September.
Van Tighem said the Jacob’s Ladder is perfect for cardio and muscular strength training for firefighters.
“It’s a piece of apparatus designed by firefighters, for firefighters,” he said.
The equipment will be available for anyone at the gym to use. |
